Of bomb threats in six high schools in Paris – Le Figaro

These prestigious establishments in the capital received, on Tuesday morning, anonymous call indicating the presence of explosives. In Britain, 14 high schools have been the target of similar threats.

Several Parisian high schools on alert. The security forces intervened on Tuesday morning in six prestigious schools in the capital after anonymous calls reporting the presence of parcel bombs, said the rector. The schools involved – Charlemagne, Fenelon, Montaigne, Condorcet, Henri-IV and Louis-le-Grand – all had received nearly identical calls between 10:20 ET 11:20 says “there is a bomb, it will explode,” according to a police source . The bomb threat was lifted in mid-day in five of these facilities while excavations are continuing to Charlemagne, announced the police headquarters and the Paris Academy.

If, for now, nothing was found by investigators, the police took the threat very seriously. Students were notably confined, that is to say away grouped according to security plans tailored to each institution, while the police headquarters of demining teams fell into place. Interviewed by Agence France-Presse, Ines, 20, a student of preparatory classes to Fenelon, indicated that “the headmaster happened in class and asked us to leave the room and not leave the facility. There was no panic. ” Those who had more class were finally allowed to leave the school to 14 hours. For others, classes resumed normally. Three police cars still remained stationed near the hotel in the sixth district of the capital.

At the Lycee Henri-IV, in the fifth arrondissement, the entrance to the city school which hosts over 2,000 students were stranded during the police intervention, says Le Parisien . Again, students are out in the quiet rear of the hotel around noon. One hundred students were waiting outside the main entrance then. Clovis street was closed to traffic by police trucks. Shortly after 14 hours, the Paris Academy announced on Twitter that the alert was lifted in this school and the course resumed normally.

For now, investigators seem to favor the tasteless farce thesis while this day Tuesday was marked by a strike of teachers. Reached by Le Figaro , a police source says that it could be “a little jokester who wanted to make a joke.” Yet at the same time in England, fourteen schools, childcare between 11 and 18 years, were also evacuated for the same reasons: anonymous calls received between 9:00 and 10:00 on Tuesday morning, as reported by The Independent . Again, the author of the calls mentioned the presence of parcel bombs. The alerts concerned at least four schools in London, Birmingham Six and four of Cornwall. The alert has also been lifted very quickly after sending deminers locally.

In November 2015, forty schools, colleges and high schools in Quebec had to be evacuated after receiving the alerts bomb. The threats were made in an email to the directions of schools, and were claimed by a “collective” affirming act “in opposition to the attitude of teachers and what is taught in schools.” The police found no explosive device on the premises.
